Panel on Collaborations of Mathematics Educators and Mathematicians

James Hamos, National Science Foundation
Rebecca McGraw, University of Arizona
Joe Wagner, Xavier University

Mathematicians and mathematics educators collaborate on a number of levels: to improve K-12 pre- and in-service mathematical preparation of teachers, to enhance undergraduate mathematics courses, and to enrich mathematics education research projects. What is the nature of mathematician-mathematics educator collaborations? What are the characteristics of successful collaborations and what are the constraints? The panel members will draw from their unique experiences collaborating with mathematicians, studying mathematician-mathematics educator collaborations, and funding mathematician-mathematics educator partnerships.
